Utah Valley NIL rules.

Utah Valley is on the 2026-27 revenue-sharing list and joined the Big West on 2026-07-01. Its NIL procedure uses NIL Go and bans the categories Utah law lists.

The short answer. Utah Valley joined the Big West on 2026-07-01 from the Western Athletic Conference, and the College Sports Commission lists it among schools sharing revenue in 2026-27, with a 2026-27 cap of about $21.58 million per school. UVU's "Name, Image and Likeness Procedure and NIL Go" says deals of $600 or more go to NIL Go, bars deals with provisions Utah law prohibits (tobacco and vaping, alcohol, controlled substances, gambling, sexually oriented businesses, firearms the athlete cannot legally buy), and bars NIL use of UVU athletics facilities. Utah law lets public colleges pay athletes for NIL directly, but not from state appropriations or student fees (/nil/college/utah).

School NIL policyUVU Athletics, "Name, Image and Likeness Procedure and NIL Go" (web page, URL dated 2025-07-10), repeated in the 2025-26 Student-Athlete Handbook. It lists impermissible activities (pay for athletic performance, provisions banned by Utah law, signing a deal of $600 or more before submitting it to NIL Go, using UVU athletics facilities, and using UVU marks without consent) and permissible ones. The handbook adds that athletes "may not miss class for any NIL activities" and that NIL expenses, including medical expenses from injuries during NIL activities, are the athlete's ownUVU Athletics, NIL Procedure and NIL Go page and 2025-26 Student-Athlete Handbook
How deals are disclosedNIL Go for third-party deals of $600 or more within five business days (NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2, 22.2.2.2). UVU's procedure says "Before a student-athlete enters into an agreement that equals or exceeds $600 in value, the student-athlete shall provide the agreement to NIL Go", and elsewhere that third-party deals are reported "within five business days of execution". Athletes who opt in each year to UVU's NIL assistance disclose through NIL Go under UVU's procedure, and Athletics Compliance "will review disclosed NIL activities". Banned categoriesUtah law bars any NIL agreement with a "prohibited endorsement provision": promotion of tobacco or e-cigarettes (including vaping), alcohol, a seller or dispenser of controlled substances (including steroids, antibiotics and marijuana), gambling or betting, a sexually oriented business, or a firearm the athlete cannot legally purchase (Utah Code § 53H-6-202(3)(a)). Revenue sharingThe College Sports Commission lists Utah Valley University among 2026-27 participating schools, filed in the table under "Western Athletic Conference", and puts the 2026-27 cap at "approximately $21.58 million per school" (read 2026-10-24). What is specific to Utah Valley

Utah Valley moved to the Big West on 2026-07-01, bringing the conference back to Utah for the first time since Utah State left in 2005; the Big West says UVU, with more than 48,670 students, is now its largest university, competing in 13 Big West sports, while its 2025-26 handbook lists wrestling in the Big 12. Of the 12 full Big West members for 2026-27 it is the only one outside California, and Utah's statute bans NIL categories while California's lists none; UVU's procedure writes Utah's list into its own rules. The procedure makes NIL help from the school something an athlete chooses: each year, on the required annual forms, athletes may opt in to UVU's institutional assistance, and those who do not disclose their NIL activity do not receive it. It also bars NIL use of UVU athletics facilities outright and walks through what happens if NIL Go does not clear a deal (renegotiate and resubmit, cancel and refund, or go to neutral arbitration). The procedure was written before the conference move and still tells athletes to check deals against "NCAA, WAC, UVU, and Utah State laws".

How Leave fits

In Leave, every deal thread carries a rules summary for the athlete's state and level, and keeps the contract, its dates and the disclosure deadline that applies. It is a summary, not a ruling; the school and the law decide. Leave is software, not an agent, and takes 0% of any deal. You decide, you send.
