The College Sports Commission lists Seattle University as participating in 2026-27 and puts the cap at "approximately $21.58 million per school" (read 2026-10-23). No breakdown was published | Seattle U Athletics, Fueling Success (2025-09-27); College Sports Commission |
| Collective or NIL group | Red White U, now in-house. Businesses and fans can also reach athletes through the Redhawk Exchange (INFLCR, launched 2022-04-29) | Seattle U Athletics, Red White U; Fueling Success (2025-09-27); Redhawk Exchange (2022-04-29) |
| Agents and representation | Not published by Seattle U. Washington's Uniform Athlete Agents Act (chapter 19.225 RCW) requires no state registration; an agent hands the athlete a signed disclosure form on the day of first contact, the act's "agency contract" includes a contract to negotiate an endorsement contract, and the athlete and agent notify the athletic director at least 72 hours before signing and again within 72 hours after | /nil/college/washington |

What is specific to Seattle U
Seattle University, which describes itself as a Jesuit Catholic university, returned to the West Coast Conference in 2025 (its first WCC home game in Seattle since 1980, its vice president wrote) and moved into the new model early. It opted into revenue sharing as of July 2025 and folded its collective, Red White U, into the athletics department as a gift fund so the university itself signs NIL agreements with athletes. Fink tied the change to recruiting: "NIL has become the final piece that completes the offer package". Seattle U announced a group licensing program with The Brandr Group in 2023, and in 2026 added Victory GM's NIL marketplace and a 35-lesson NIL and financial education playbook. In September 2026 it hired Joe Knight, previously executive director for NIL at the University of Washington, to lead revenue. Because Seattle U is private, Washington's 2024 NIL ethics carve-out for state university staff does not reach it.
How Leave fits
In Leave, every deal thread carries a rules summary for the athlete's state and level, and keeps the contract, its dates and the disclosure deadline that applies. It is a summary, not a ruling; the school and the law decide. Leave is software, not an agent, and takes 0% of any deal. You decide, you send.
Questions about NIL at Seattle U
Does Seattle U pay its athletes?
Seattle University's vice president for athletics wrote on 2025-09-27, "As of July, we've opted into the revenue-sharing model", and the College Sports Commission lists it as participating for 2026-27, with a cap of about $21.58 million per school. Seattle U also says it enters NIL agreements directly with athletes through Red White U, now an athletics gift fund. No breakdown was published.
What happened to Red White U, the Seattle U NIL collective?
Seattle U says Red White U "has officially moved in-house and is now operated through the Athletics Department as a dedicated gift fund". Donations are tax-deductible, and the university uses the fund to enter NIL agreements with Redhawk athletes.
How do Seattle U Redhawks athletes report NIL deals?
NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2 and 22.2.2.2 call for reporting third-party deals of $600 or more to NIL Go within five business days. Deals made on the Redhawk Exchange create an automatic disclosure in INFLCR, per Seattle U's 2022 release. Seattle U has not posted its own deadline, and Washington law sets none.
Can Seattle U athletes sell jerseys with their name on them?
Seattle U's group licensing program with The Brandr Group, announced in December 2023, lets licensees sell products combining Seattle U logos with participating athletes' names and numbers, with royalties to the athletes. Athletes keep their NIL rights for individual deals.
Does Washington's NIL law apply to Seattle University?
Only in part. Washington has no general college NIL statute. Its one NIL provision, RCW 42.52.807, covers staff at state universities, and Seattle U is private. The state's Uniform Athlete Agents Act does cover athletes at private schools, including its first-contact disclosure form and 72-hour notice to the athletic director.
