School NIL policyMiami's NIL page (undated, read 2026-10-23) sets out its current rules in an athlete FAQ. Two older documents remain posted on the athletics site: "Name, Image, and Likeness Guidelines" dated 4/2023, which apply from full-time enrollment or the start of official practice, set facility rental rules, bar coach and staff involvement and list sanctions up to dismissal from the program, and an 8/2021 version that names Athliance for disclosureMiami Athletics, NIL page; NIL Guidelines (4/2023); NIL Policies (8/2021)
How deals are disclosedNIL Go for third-party deals of $600 or more within five business days (NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2, 22.2.2.2). Miami's NIL page says disclosure "must be done on NIL Go within five business days of execution of the NIL contract or otherwise agreement to the contract or payment terms" and encourages athletes "to refrain from accepting payment until they have reported and cleared their deal in NIL Go". It also says athletes receiving NIL pay "must submit a proposed verbal or written NIL agreement to Miami University through ARMS in advance" so Miami can check for conflicts with its contracts, and a revised agreement goes back through ARMS "for review before entering into the NIL Activity". Ohio law has the athlete disclose a proposed contract to the school before entering it (R.C. 3376.06(C))Miami Athletics, NIL page; NCAA 2026-27 Division I Manual; R.C. 3376.06
Banned categoriesMiami's NIL page and 2023 guidelines bar NIL agreements with alcohol products; tobacco, electronic smoking, vapor and ingestible nicotine products; "Casinos or any entity that sponsors or promotes gambling activities"; controlled substances; "Marijuana (including legalized or medical) products"; medical marijuana cultivators, processors, labs or dispensaries; and adult entertainment businesses, and reserve the right to restrict similar categories communicated before enrollment. The guidelines also flag conflicts with sponsors, such as wearing products competitive with the sideline sponsor (adidas) during team activities or promoting beverages competitive with the pouring rights sponsor (Pepsi); Miami announced a multi-year extension of its adidas contract on 2026-08-13. School marks and group licensingMiami's NIL page says Miami trademarks, logos, names and other Miami IP "cannot be used during NIL Activities without the express written permission of the Brand and Licensing Manager", through the Miami University NIL Brand Request Form. Athletes may say they are Miami athletes and list their accolades but may not imply Miami endorses the activity. The 2023 guidelines add that photos with Miami IP may be used for personal brand building on social media "but not in any NIL Activity". Agents and representationMiami's 2023 guidelines say an athlete may hire an agent for NIL, that the agent "needs to be registered under Ohio law unless it is an immediate family member", that the agent is paid "their regular rate", and that hiring an agent to market athletic ability as a professional may jeopardize eligibility. Ohio law requires athlete agents to register with the Ohio athletic commission (R.C. 4771.06) and, since 2026-03-20, bars NIL agent contracts that run past eligibility (R.C. 4771.021)Miami Athletics, NIL Guidelines (4/2023); R.C. What is specific to Miami (Ohio)

Miami spells out where NIL work can happen on campus. Its 2023 guidelines say NIL activity in an athletics facility needs permission from the office of Athletic Event and Facilities and payment of "the applicable university rental rate", that other campus buildings go through Conference and Event Services, and that locker rooms, training areas, team meeting rooms and hallways are "un-rentable" for NIL. The same guidelines say "No Miami coaches or staff may be involved in any way with your NIL Activities", including arranging or promoting them, and note that under Ohio's right of publicity law (R.C. Chapter 2741) Miami may use an athlete's NIL for educational and promotional purposes without paying. For deals, Miami points businesses to the Miami RedHawk NIL Exchange, which its Director of Compliance called in 2023 "the preferred platform" for reaching a RedHawk athlete, and to Red Brick Legacy, the third-party collective it named official in 2024.

How Leave fits

In Leave, every deal thread carries a rules summary for the athlete's state and level, and keeps the contract, its dates and the disclosure deadline that applies. It is a summary, not a ruling; the school and the law decide. Leave is software, not an agent, and takes 0% of any deal. You decide, you send.
