| Question | What is published | Source |
|---|---|---|
| School NIL policy | "Xavier University Policy on Student-Athlete Name, Image and Likeness", dated August 2021 and posted 2021-09-15, is the policy linked from the NIL page, which the compliance menu's "NIL Policy" item opens. It cites "Ohio Executive Order 2021-10D", prohibits payments "by Xavier University or any person or entity acting on behalf of Xavier University" and payments for athletic performance or attendance, bars NIL activity that conflicts with class, academic requirements or official team activities, and bars NIL pay from "an athletics apparel company other than that with whom the University is presently contracted". No newer policy was found on goxavier.com on 2026-10-22. The NIL page also links a file named "Updated_Ohio_Law_NIL_Document_2024.pdf" (posted 2026-09-23). It is a 12-page copy of Sub. H.B. 660 of Ohio's 135th General Assembly (2023-2024), headed "As Passed by the House": a bill, which the Ohio Legislature's site still lists at that stage, not enacted law. Ohio's law in force is Chapter 3376 as rewritten by H.B. 315 (2025) and amended in 2026 | Xavier Athletics, Xavier University NIL Policy (August 2021) and Name, Image and Likeness page; Ohio Legislature, House Bill 660 (135th General Assembly) |
| How deals are disclosed | NIL Go for third-party deals of $600 or more within five business days (NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2, 22.2.2.2). Xavier's 2021 policy: athletes disclose the contents of the written or verbal contract and the name and contact information of any agent or attorney to the Director of Compliance "within two business days of receiving an offer and prior to accepting any agreement", using the Xavier Athletics NIL Disclosure Form; failure "may result in temporary or permanent loss of Athletics Eligibility". Xavier's booster FAQ says athletes "are required to disclose all NIL activities to the Xavier Athletics Compliance Office before they occur". Ohio law: an athlete discloses a proposed NIL contract to the official the school designates before entering it | Xavier Athletics, NIL Policy (August 2021) and Booster FAQ; NCAA Division I Manual 2026-27; /nil/college/ohio |
| Banned categories | Ohio law lets a school bar NIL contracts tied to controlled substances, marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, vaping and nicotine products, adult entertainment, casinos and gambling sponsors, and similar categories it names before enrollment; the list is permissive. Xavier's 2021 policy prohibits contracts "with companies or products related to tobacco; controlled substances as defined by Ohio law and banned substances as defined by the NCAA; sports wagering; and sexually explicit advertising", and lets Xavier refuse opportunities that conflict with an institutional sponsorship or are "contrary to the values of Xavier University". The booster FAQ lists "tobacco, illegal substances or activities, NCAA/WADA banned substances and sports wagering" | Xavier Athletics, NIL Policy (August 2021) and Booster FAQ; /nil/college/ohio |
| School marks and group licensing | The 2021 policy bars use of Xavier's facilities, uniforms, trademarks, copyrighted or patented products, "including photographs, videos, official logos and other marks", without prior written approval; the booster FAQ says wearing a uniform in a promotional ad needs permission. Xavier set up group licensing with The Brandr Group on 2021-10-21, covering 19 varsity sports, and opened the Xavier NIL Store powered by Campus Ink on 2023-11-17 with merchandise "officially licensed by Xavier University"; the site menu's "NIL Merchandise" link goes to Athlete's Thread | Xavier Athletics releases (2021-10-21, 2023-11-17) and NIL Policy (August 2021) |
| Revenue sharing | The College Sports Commission lists Xavier as participating in 2026-27 and puts the cap at "approximately $21.58 million per school". Athletic Director Greg Christopher wrote in a letter dated 2025-06-12 that "contributions to AFO's Basketball Excellence Fund will serve as our primary method of supporting revenue sharing" and that Xavier is exploring added revenue from ticketing, partnerships and events. In a letter dated 2026-08-13 he wrote that Xavier's basketball teams "were under-resourced compared to our Big East peers relative to their team revenue sharing payrolls" and that in this year's budgets "increasing resources for Richard Pitino and Billi Chambers was imperative". The All For One Fund's 2026-27 membership guide (posted 2026-09-14) says "Xavier is able to pay student-athletes directly through Revenue Sharing" and points revenue-sharing gifts to the Men's Basketball Excellence Fund. No 2026-27 amount or allocation is published. Ohio law lets a private college pay athletes for NIL but not from student fees (R.C. 3376.09) | College Sports Commission; Xavier Athletics, letters from Greg Christopher (2025-06-12, 2026-08-13) and All For One Fund Membership Guide 2026-27; /nil/college/ohio |
| Collective or NIL group | Xavier's athletics pages reviewed on 2026-10-22 name no collective. Its All For One Fund membership guides name FINAL 2% without describing it: the 2025-26 guide (posted 2025-10-01) asks members to "transition their support from FINAL 2% to the All For One Fund" now that schools may pay athletes directly, and the 2026-27 guide (posted 2026-09-14) says "FINAL 2% will still exist" while pointing revenue-sharing gifts to the Men's Basketball Excellence Fund. What Xavier runs itself: a public NIL Directory (at a 2026 address) listing athletes by sport with contact and social media details, and the Opendorse-powered Xavier Musketeers NIL Marketplace announced 2022-10-20, where each completed deal "automatically is disclosed to the Xavier Compliance Office"; the current NIL pages reviewed do not link the Opendorse marketplace | Xavier Athletics, All For One Fund Membership Guides (2025-26, 2026-27), NIL Directory and Opendorse release (2022-10-20) |
| Agents and representation | Xavier's agents page: "Any agent or advisor wishing to contact a Xavier University student-athlete must register with the Xavier University Athletics Compliance Office and the Ohio Athletic Commission." The 2021 policy says an athlete may hire an agent or attorney for NIL, who "needs to be registered and in good standing under Ohio law [aco.ohio.gov] unless it is an immediate family member", is paid "his/her regular rate", and may not market the athlete as a future professional. Ohio law: an athlete agent holds an Ohio athletic commission registration, and since 2026-03-20 an NIL agent contract may not run past the athlete's eligibility | Xavier Athletics, Agents and Advisors page and NIL Policy (August 2021); /nil/college/ohio |
| Compliance contact | Xavier Athletics Compliance Office, athleticscompliance@xavier.edu; the compliance staff page lists a Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Resources and an Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance | Xavier Athletics, Athletics Compliance and Compliance Staff |
| State law | In force. Ohio's Chapter 3376 lets public and private colleges pay athletes for NIL, has athletes disclose a proposed contract to the school before entering it, lets schools bar listed categories, and since 2026-03-20 voids NIL contracts that outlast eligibility | /nil/college/ohio |
What is specific to Xavier
Xavier's NIL materials are mostly from the first year of NIL and have not been rewritten for the revenue-sharing era: the NIL page still says "The Ohio Executive Order is very clear that NIL compensation can NOT be used as a 'pay-for-play' inducement", and the linked policy is dated August 2021. The newer statements come from Athletic Director Greg Christopher and the All For One Fund, and they center on basketball. His letter dated 2025-06-12 names the fund's Basketball Excellence Fund as the main source for revenue sharing; his letter dated 2026-08-13 says Xavier's basketball teams "were under-resourced compared to our Big East peers relative to their team revenue sharing payrolls" and that more resources for both basketball programs went into this year's budgets; and the fund's membership guides ask donors to move support from FINAL 2% to the All For One Fund. The site also carries a public NIL Directory listing athletes sport by sport. The 2021 policy has an apparel rule: NIL pay may not come from "an athletics apparel company other than that with whom the University is presently contracted".
How Leave fits
In Leave, every deal thread carries a rules summary for the athlete's state and level, and keeps the contract, its dates and the disclosure deadline that applies. It is a summary, not a ruling; the school and the law decide. Leave is software, not an agent, and takes 0% of any deal. You decide, you send.
Questions about NIL at Xavier
Does Xavier pay its athletes?
Xavier is on the College Sports Commission's list of schools sharing revenue in 2026-27, with a cap of about $21.58 million per school. Athletic Director Greg Christopher wrote in a letter dated 2025-06-12 that gifts to the All For One Fund's Basketball Excellence Fund are Xavier's "primary method of supporting revenue sharing", and the fund's 2026-27 membership guide says "Xavier is able to pay student-athletes directly through Revenue Sharing". Xavier has not published amounts or how it divides the money.
How do Xavier athletes report NIL deals?
Three rules are published. NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2 and 22.2.2.2 call for reporting third-party deals of $600 or more to NIL Go within five business days. Xavier's 2021 policy asks athletes to disclose an offer to Compliance within two business days and before accepting it. Ohio law has athletes disclose a proposed NIL contract to the school before entering it.
What NIL collective works with Xavier?
Xavier's athletics pages name no collective. Its All For One Fund membership guides name FINAL 2%, without describing it, and ask donors to move their support to the All For One Fund, since Xavier can now pay athletes directly through revenue sharing. Xavier also publishes an NIL Directory listing athletes by sport, and in 2022 it announced an Opendorse-powered NIL marketplace.
What NIL deals are banned for Xavier athletes?
Xavier's 2021 policy bars deals tied to tobacco, controlled substances and NCAA-banned substances, sports wagering and sexually explicit advertising, deals that conflict with a Xavier sponsorship or its values, and deals paid by an athletics apparel company other than Xavier's. Ohio law lets schools bar a wider list, including alcohol, marijuana, vaping and gambling sponsors.
Does an NIL agent have to register to work with a Xavier athlete?
Xavier's agents page says any agent or advisor who wants to contact a Xavier athlete registers with Xavier's Compliance Office and the Ohio Athletic Commission. Its 2021 policy exempts an immediate family member from the registration it describes for NIL agents.
