Florida NIL rules.

Florida athletes report third-party deals of $600 or more in NIL Go within five business days; UF bars gambling and performance-drug vendors and lists Florida Victorious.

The short answer. Florida's athletics department publishes its NIL rules as a web guide, "Overview of the Gators and Name, Image, Likeness" (floridagators.com, 2025), rather than a standalone policy document. It says third-party deals worth $600 or more are reported in NIL Go within five business days of signing, and that athletes "will not be permitted" to sign with gambling or sports wagering vendors or with vendors associated with athlete performance enhancing drugs, both as defined by the NCAA. The College Sports Commission lists Florida among the schools sharing revenue in 2026-27, and the school's NIL page points fans to Florida Victorious, which it says strives to be "the model NIL entity in collegiate athletics".

School NIL policyNo standalone NIL policy document was found on floridagators.com or in UF's regulation index. The athletics department's web guide, "Overview of the Gators and Name, Image, Likeness" (address dated 2025-08-06), sets out the rules it applies. Every paid deal is to be a "quid pro quo" with written deliverables, athletes are "compensated only for work actually performed", NIL work is for off-hours rather than class, practice, academic advising or medical appointments, and team-approved gear is worn at games, practices and team travelFlorida Gators, "Overview of the Gators and Name, Image, Likeness" (2025)
How deals are disclosedNIL Go for third-party deals of $600 or more, in total, within five business days (NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2, 22.2.2.2). UF's "NIL Go" page says the five business days run from "execution of the NIL contract or otherwise agreement to the contract or payment terms" (the overview guide says "of signing the contract"), that an athlete may designate one representative (e.g., an agent) to enter deals with "ultimate submission by the student-athlete", and that deals executed before June 7, 2025 are reported only if payments continue after June 30, 2025. No separate UF disclosure portal is named on the pages reviewedFlorida Gators, "NIL Go" (2025) and "Overview of the Gators and Name, Image, Likeness"; NCAA Division I Manual 2026-27
Banned categoriesFlorida's statute lists none; neither the 2020 nor the current text of s. 1006.74 has a category list. UF's guide says athletes "will not be permitted" to sign NIL agreements with gambling or sports wagering vendors or with vendors associated with athlete performance enhancing drugs, both as defined by the NCAAFlorida Gators, "Overview of the Gators and Name, Image, Likeness" (2025); /nil/college/florida
School marks and group licensingUF logos, marks and colors may be used only with approval. The guide's test is whether the company is a Gators sponsor: if it is, Gators gear may appear; if not, the athlete may not promote it in Gators gear. Athlete-made merchandise using UF marks needs approval, and UF-issued equipment and apparel may not be sold or traded. UF's NIL page links three athlete merchandise outlets (Athletes Thread, the Florida NIL Store at nil.store and Influxer). Revenue sharingFlorida is on the College Sports Commission's list of schools participating in revenue sharing for 2026-27, where the cap is "approximately $21.58 million" per school. Florida Board of Governors Regulation 9.013(5), as amended 2025-11-06, says "the use of unreserved cash, not to exceed $22.5 million annually, from a non-athletic auxiliary, may be utilized for athletics by each university board of trustees, as a transfer or a loan" from the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025 through the fiscal year ending June 30, 2028. A further amendment to Regulation 9.013 was on the Board of Governors agenda of 2026-09-03 as a public notice of intent; the 2025-11-06 text is the one listed among active regulations on flbog.edu as of 2026-10-21. Agents and representationUF's compliance page on agents is headed "UF Policy on Agents (Not related to Name, Image, & Likeness)", and the UF pages reviewed publish no NIL agent registration form or rule beyond the NIL Go representative option. State law requires anyone acting as an athlete agent on NIL contracts to hold a Florida athlete agent license (s. 468.453(8)), and an athlete who signs an agent contract tells the athletic director within 72 hours (s. 468.454(7))Florida Gators, "NIL Go" (2025); /nil/college/florida

State lawFlorida's s. 1006.74, cut back in 2023, requires two financial literacy and life skills workshops of at least 5 hours each before graduation and shields schools and coaches from damages over routine athletics decisions, Board of Governors Regulation 6.022 repeats both duties for state universities, and s. 468.453(8) requires a Florida license for NIL agents; in force/nil/college/florida

What is specific to Florida

Florida frames NIL as a service the athletics department runs, which it calls the "NIL Suite": one-on-one advising with Creative Services staff, help with pitch decks and media kits, referrals when a company calls the department looking for athletes, photo and video help, and tax, finance and branding workshops. The guide draws a line around team time: an athlete may sign with an apparel brand other than the team's sponsors (Nike and Jordan) but wears team gear at games, practices and team travel, and the guide says most deals that spin off a team activity, such as Media Day, are "pre-approved and negotiated ahead of time" on an opt-in basis. UF's NIL page names the Hawkins Center, Gators Experience and GatorMade as providing financial literacy, brand building and educational workshops on NIL; Florida law separately requires two financial literacy workshops before graduation. International athletes on F-1 visas are "encouraged to contact the UF International Center" before any NIL agreement.

How Leave fits

In Leave, every deal thread carries a rules summary for the athlete's state and level, and keeps the contract, its dates and the disclosure deadline that applies. It is a summary, not a ruling; the school and the law decide. Leave is software, not an agent, and takes 0% of any deal. You decide, you send.

Questions about NIL at Florida

Does Florida pay its athletes directly?

The College Sports Commission lists the University of Florida among the schools taking part in revenue sharing for 2026-27, when a school can pay its athletes up to about $21.58 million in total. UF has not published how much it pays or how it splits the money. Florida law no longer addresses school pay; the 2023 rewrite of s. 1006.74 deleted the old ban.

How do Florida Gators athletes report NIL deals?

Through NIL Go, the College Sports Commission's portal, for any third-party deal worth $600 or more in total, within five business days of executing the contract or agreeing to payment terms (NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2 and 22.2.2.2). UF's guide says an athlete may let one trusted representative enter the details, but the athlete submits the deal.

What NIL collective works with Florida?

UF's own NIL page points fans to Florida Victorious, which it describes as striving to be "the model NIL entity in collegiate athletics", with links to its memberships and corporate partners. That listing was on the page as of 2026-10-21.

Can Florida athletes wear Gators gear in NIL ads?

Only with approval. UF's guide says gear may appear when the company is a Gators sponsor, and not when it is not. Merchandise using UF marks needs approval, and athletes may not sell or trade equipment or apparel UF issued to them.

Are there NIL deals Florida athletes cannot sign?

UF's guide says athletes are not permitted to sign with gambling or sports wagering vendors or with vendors associated with athlete performance enhancing drugs, as the NCAA defines them. Florida's statute itself has no list of banned categories.
