The rules at UCF
| Question | What is published | Source |
|---|---|---|
| School NIL policy | Not published. No UCF NIL policy, student-athlete handbook with NIL rules, or UCF regulation on NIL was found on ucfknights.com or ucf.edu as of 2026-10-21; ucfknights.com/nil returned a not-found page, and the NIL entry in the site menu leads to a "Get Involved" page for donors and businesses. The Compliance page still links, under "Using a UCF Student-Athlete Name or Photo?", a page dated June 13, 2016 that says "NO, it is not permissible for anyone to use the name or picture of an enrolled UCF student-athlete to directly advertise, recommend or promote sales or use of a commercial product or service", which predates NIL. A UCF News page by UCF Athletics Compliance for faculty and staff (2023-11-01) lists dos and don'ts for employees, such as buying items related to athletes' NIL deals that are "de minimis in value and for the same rate available to the general public" | UCF Athletics, Compliance and Get Involved (read 2026-10-21); UCF Athletics Compliance, "NIL, What UCF Faculty and Staff Need to Know", UCF News (2023-11-01) |
| How deals are disclosed | NIL Go for third-party deals of $600 or more within five business days (NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2, 22.2.2.2). The athletic director's update of 2025-12-16 says third-party NIL compensation above the cap is "subject to College Sports Commission approval", and the 2025-06-10 settlement guide says a national clearinghouse "will assess all outside NIL deals exceeding $600". A UCF disclosure step of its own: Not published. Florida's statute no longer requires disclosure to the school; s. 468.454(7) has an athlete tell the athletic director within 72 hours of signing an agent contract, or before the next athletic event if sooner | UCF Athletics, updates of 2025-06-10 and 2025-12-16; NCAA Division I Manual 2026-27; /nil/college/florida |
| Banned categories | Florida's statute lists none. UCF's own list: Not published. The 2023 faculty and staff page tells UCF employees not to "Use NIL deals as an inducement for enrollment or continued enrollment or as pay-for-play" | /nil/college/florida; UCF News (2023-11-01) |
| School marks and group licensing | Not published for athletes' own NIL deals. The 2025-12-16 update, repeated on UCF's Get Involved page, says a corporate partnership through UCF Sports Properties "paired with an NIL deal" lets a business leverage "both UCF and athlete assets". A UCF Athletics release of 2026-09-09 says a multi-year Spectrum partnership, brokered by Playfly Sports, includes "name, image and likeness collaborations with student-athletes". The 2023 faculty and staff page refers to a "UCF NIL Fanatics shop" selling athletes' jerseys and gear | UCF Athletics, update of 2025-12-16, Get Involved page and Spectrum release (2026-09-09); UCF News (2023-11-01) |
| Revenue sharing | The College Sports Commission lists UCF as participating in 2026-27 and puts the cap at "approximately $21.58 million per school". UCF wrote on 2025-06-10 that "Beginning July 1, 2025, UCF will fully participate in the new revenue-sharing model" and would add 74 scholarships, and on 2025-12-16 that it funded "the maximum amount allowed under the House settlement guidelines for 2025-26" and "remains committed to fully funding rev share at the maximum allowable level for 2026-27". UCF said on 2024-11-18 that its new Strategic Competitiveness team would take on rev share from 2025-07-01, and on 2025-03-18 it launched the Competitive Success Fund. Florida Board of Governors Regulation 9.013(5), amended 2025-06-18 and 2025-11-06, says "the use of unreserved cash, not to exceed $22.5 million annually, from a non-athletic auxiliary, may be utilized for athletics by each university board of trustees, as a transfer or a loan" through the fiscal year ending June 30, 2028. UCF's trustee minutes of 2025-07-31 say "Trustees requested a proposal from management including auxiliary cash flow projections, an athletics strategic and business plan, return on investment analysis, and safeguards to prevent negative impact to students or other auxiliaries". Their minutes of 2026-04-15 record approval, with one dissent, of a proposal "to establish the UCF Athletic Strategic Investment Fund and allocate $22.5 million in non-recurring auxiliary funds"; the minutes do not say how the fund is spent | UCF Athletics, updates of 2024-11-18, 2025-03-18, 2025-06-10 and 2025-12-16; College Sports Commission; Board of Governors Regulation 9.013; UCF Board of Trustees minutes (2025-07-31, 2026-04-15) |
| Collective or NIL group | None currently named by UCF. The Kingdom NIL, LLC, which the 2023 UCF News page called "the official NIL collective", posted a letter from its founder on kingdomnil.com saying "On June 30, 2025, The Kingdom NIL will conclude operations - all recurring subscriptions will be cancelled and all remaining funds will be donated to the UCF Athletics". UCF's athletic director wrote on 2024-11-18 that The Kingdom's "outreach, stewardship, and fundraising initiatives will be integrated into the ChargeOn Fund". The 2025-12-16 update invites businesses to reach athletes through a UCF interest form for "true, third-party NIL opportunities (subject to approval via CSC/NIL Go)" | kingdomnil.com (read 2026-10-21); UCF Athletics, updates of 2024-11-18 and 2025-12-16; UCF News (2023-11-01) |
| Agents and representation | UCF's Agents and Amateurism page "requests that all athlete-agents who are interested in representing its student-athletes to register with the Athletics Compliance Office" through an online questionnaire and provide a copy of their State of Florida agent license; agents who are also contract advisors submit players' association certifications, and correspondence goes to the office in duplicate. Florida law requires a Florida athlete agent license to represent a college athlete on NIL contracts (s. 468.453(8)), and an athlete who signs an agent contract tells the athletic director within 72 hours, or before the next athletic event if sooner (s. 468.454(7)) | UCF Athletics, Agents and Amateurism; /nil/college/florida |
| Compliance contact | UCF Athletics Compliance Office. The Compliance page lists 407-823-3089 and UCFCompliance@athletics.ucf.edu; the Agents and Amateurism page lists P.O. Box 163555 Orlando, FL 32816, athleticscompliance@ucf.edu and (407) 823-3089 | UCF Athletics, Compliance; Agents and Amateurism |
| State law | Florida's s. 1006.74, cut back in 2023, now requires at least two financial literacy, life skills and entrepreneurship workshops of at least 5 hours each before graduation (repeated for state universities in Board of Governors Regulation 6.022) and shields schools from damages over routine athletics decisions, and s. 468.453(8) requires a Florida license for NIL agents; in force | /nil/college/florida |
What is specific to UCF
UCF moved NIL money in-house in stages and published each step as a letter from its athletic director. In November 2024 it said a new Strategic Competitiveness team would take on rev share, scholarships, recruiting and roster management on 2025-07-01; in March 2025 it opened the Competitive Success Fund inside the ChargeOn Fund and asked supporters of The Kingdom to move to new pledges there; and The Kingdom, which its founder's letter says he started as an LLC in late 2021, said it would end operations on 2025-06-30 and give its remaining money to UCF Athletics. UCF said its entry as a full-share Big 12 member in 2025-26 would raise operating revenue by $17 million, in the same letter that set out its revenue-sharing plan. As a state university, UCF is also covered by Florida Board of Governors rules: its trustees discussed the 2025 allowance for using non-athletic auxiliary cash in athletics in July 2025 and in April 2026 approved a $22.5 million allocation of auxiliary funds to a new UCF Athletic Strategic Investment Fund. On the athlete side, UCF's public pages say little about rules for athletes' own deals: there is no posted NIL policy, and an older compliance page on using athletes' names in ads still dates from before NIL.
How Leave fits
In Leave, every deal thread carries a rules summary for the athlete's state and level, and keeps the contract, its dates and the disclosure deadline that applies. It is a summary, not a ruling; the school and the law decide. Leave is software, not an agent, and takes 0% of any deal. You decide, you send.
Questions about NIL at UCF
Does UCF pay its athletes?
Yes, through revenue sharing. UCF's athletic director wrote on 2025-12-16 that UCF funded the maximum allowed under the House settlement guidelines for 2025-26 and "remains committed to fully funding rev share at the maximum allowable level for 2026-27", and the College Sports Commission lists UCF as a participating school. The 2026-27 cap is about $21.58 million per school. UCF has not published how it divides the money among sports or athletes.
What NIL collective works with UCF?
None is named on UCF's current pages. The Kingdom NIL, which a 2023 UCF News page called the official NIL collective, posted a letter from its founder saying it would conclude operations on June 30, 2025 and donate its remaining funds to UCF Athletics. Donors are now asked to give to UCF's Competitive Success Fund, and businesses can ask UCF Athletics to connect them with athletes for third-party deals.
How do UCF Knights athletes report NIL deals?
Third-party deals worth $600 or more go to NIL Go within five business days (NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2, 22.2.2.2), and UCF describes those deals as subject to College Sports Commission approval. UCF has not published a separate disclosure rule, and Florida's statute no longer requires disclosure to the school, though signing an agent contract triggers a notice to the athletic director within 72 hours, or before the next athletic event if sooner.
Does an NIL agent need a Florida license to represent a UCF athlete?
Florida law requires a Florida athlete agent license for anyone acting as an athlete agent for a college athlete on NIL contracts (s. 468.453(8)). UCF's own agent page also asks athlete agents to register with its Athletics Compliance Office and provide a copy of their State of Florida agent license.
Are there NIL deals UCF athletes cannot sign?
Florida's statute lists no banned categories, and UCF has not published a list of its own. A 2023 UCF Athletics Compliance page for faculty and staff tells employees not to use NIL deals as an inducement for enrollment or continued enrollment or as pay-for-play.
