What is specific to Florida A&M
FAMU's NIL rules sit in a formal university regulation, adopted under Florida law and Board of Governors regulations, rather than on an athletics web page, and Regulation 2.034 builds in a legal review: once an athlete hands the athletic director a copy of a paid NIL contract, the contract goes to the Office of the General Counsel, which tells the university whether it conflicts with a FAMU contract or the regulation. The regulation's subsection (5) also commits FAMU to "at least two distinct financial literacy, life skills, and entrepreneurship workshops for a minimum of five (5) hours each" before graduation. FAMU's Office of Compliance and Ethics publishes a 15-question "Student-Athlete Guidance" sheet of questions to ask a company when negotiating an NIL deal, including "What are my obligations under this agreement?" and "What happens if either party wants to terminate the agreement early?". On the technology side, FAMU Athletics announced on 2021-06-30 that it was "the first SWAC institution and second Historically Black College or University (HBCU)" to use INFLCR Verified, and on 2022-02-24 that it was "the first HBCU" to give athletes INFLCR's Local Exchange.
How Leave fits
In Leave, every deal thread carries a rules summary for the athlete's state and level, and keeps the contract, its dates and the disclosure deadline that applies. It is a summary, not a ruling; the school and the law decide. Leave is software, not an agent, and takes 0% of any deal. You decide, you send.
Questions about NIL at Florida A&M
Does FAMU pay its athletes?
The College Sports Commission lists Florida A&M University among the schools taking part in House settlement revenue sharing in 2026-27, with a cap of approximately $21.58 million per school. FAMU Athletics' July 2026 "Strike Tour" was set up "to raise funds for revenue sharing and scholarships to benefit FAMU student-athletes". FAMU has not published a revenue-sharing total or how the money is split.
How do Florida A&M athletes report NIL deals?
Two published steps. FAMU Regulation 2.034(4) says an athlete gives a copy of a paid NIL contract, and any amendments, to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics or designee within five business days of entering into it, and the Office of the General Counsel reviews it for conflicts. Third-party deals of $600 or more also go into NIL Go within five business days (NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2 and 22.2.2.2).
What NIL deals can't FAMU athletes sign?
Regulation 2.034(3) bars contracts based on athletic performance; contracts promoting alcoholic beverages, tobacco, firearms, banned or illegal substances or illegal wagering; contracts with adult content; contracts that conflict with academic and team activities or with a FAMU contract; and deals with entities the United States or Florida bars doing business with. Florida's statute itself has no category list.
Can FAMU athletes use Rattlers logos in NIL deals?
Only with "the express written consent of the University President or designee", under Regulation 2.034(2), which covers names, trademarks, logos, slogans, insignia and "any features of the uniform". Any permission is "a limited and revocable license", and using campus facilities for NIL also needs prior written consent.
Is there an NIL collective for Florida A&M?
FAMU has not named one on its athletics or university pages. Its published NIL marketplace is the Rattlers Local Exchange on INFLCR, announced on 2022-02-24, where businesses and collectives can reach FAMU athletes with deals approved in advance by athletics compliance.
