Florida State NIL rules.

Florida State athletes report deals of $600 or more in NIL Go within five business days. Agents register with FSU yearly; FSU named The Battle's End official collective.

The short answer. Florida State's compliance office says third-party NIL deals worth $600 or more, cash or not, are disclosed in NIL Go within five business days of execution, and that failing to disclose can cost NCAA eligibility. Under FSU's Student-Athlete Agent procedures (revised February 2026), anyone representing an FSU athlete on NIL registers with FSU every year as well as with the State of Florida. A seminoles.com announcement whose address is dated 2025-08-27 designated The Battle's End Collective "the official NIL collective of Florida State Athletics" and said the Rising Spear Collective "will be formally dissolved" into it.

School NIL policyFSU does not publish a single NIL policy document; none is listed among the Intercollegiate Athletics policies on FSU's regulations and policies site, which shows only the Student-Athlete Misconduct Policy. Its published NIL rules are spread across the Compliance page ("NCAA Guidelines on NIL"), the NIL site "The Florida State Factor", "NIL: Use of University Marks" and "NIL: Group Licensing" (last updated 2024-02-02) and the Student-Athlete Agent standard operating procedures (revised 02/2026). The Compliance page says pay is for NIL, not athletic performance, needs a valid business purpose, and is "reasonable" compared with peers of similar influence; it names pay-for-play, undefined "use your NIL later" deals and payments with no deliverables as not allowedFlorida State Athletics, Compliance; NIL documents (2024, 2026)
How deals are disclosedNIL Go for third-party deals of $600 or more, in total, within five business days (NCAA Bylaws 22.2.2, 22.2.2.2). FSU's Compliance page adds that non-cash benefits (vehicles, gym memberships, equipment), deals that could reach $600 through royalties, commissions or bonuses, and several deals with one sponsor or sponsors under common ownership adding up to $600 are all reported, and that a disclosure lists the activities and deliverables. Entities owned or run by the school or conference are not third parties. Agents and representationBefore contacting any FSU athlete about NIL or pro sports, an agent registers with FSU (renewed every year) as well as with the State of Florida, the sport's players association and the NCAA where applicable; the Compliance page adds that "for the purposes of name, image, and likeness only, an agent may be registered with the State of Florida". An agent who contacts an athlete without FSU registration has seven business days to complete it, and FSU may report violations to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and bring a civil action under s. 468.4562. What is specific to Florida State

Much of what Florida State publishes on NIL is about agents. Its Student-Athlete Agent procedures, revised in February 2026, set a yearly FSU registration on top of the state license, a notice to compliance before an agent's first contact with an athlete, a seven-business-day window for an agent who has not registered, an Athlete Representation Disclosure Form when an agent signs an FSU athlete not already disclosed at registration, and a statement that "FSU reserves the right to bring a civil action" under s. 468.4562 of Florida's athlete agent law. On the money side, a committee of FSU's trustees approved, as a recommendation to the full board, "the use of auxiliary funds to support athletics, as permitted by Board of Governors Regulation 9.013", and the athletics department named one official collective in place of two. The department's leadership changed on 2026-09-14, when FSU announced that Michael Alford was no longer serving as Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and that Bruce Warwick would serve as Interim Director of Athletics while a national search is conducted; the staff directory still listed him as interim on 2026-10-21. The collective announcement and the trustee vote came before that change.

How Leave fits

In Leave, every deal thread carries a rules summary for the athlete's state and level, and keeps the contract, its dates and the disclosure deadline that applies. It is a summary, not a ruling; the school and the law decide. Leave is software, not an agent, and takes 0% of any deal. You decide, you send.

FSU's own procedures say so. Before contacting an FSU athlete about NIL or pro sports, an agent registers with FSU, renewed each year, in addition to the State of Florida (state law requires a Florida athlete agent license for NIL agents), and files an Athlete Representation Disclosure Form after signing an athlete not already disclosed at registration.

Can FSU athletes use the Seminoles logo in NIL deals?

Only under a written agreement with Florida State Global Partnerships or the FSU Office of Trademark Licensing, and merchandise has to come from a university licensee. Athletes can also opt into group licensing programs, such as jerseys sold through Fanatics, and earn royalties from sales.
