What is specific to North Carolina Central
North Carolina Central, a public historically Black university in Durham and part of the UNC System, has posted written NIL guidelines and has an early record on licensing. Its guidelines, posted in July 2021, set a disclosure window of at least four calendar days before an agreement, written approval from compliance and a list of banned categories, all built on an executive order the governor rescinded in 2024. In August 2022 NCCU announced it was the "First HBCU to Launch Group Licensing for Student-Athletes with The Brandr Group", for athletes in all 15 sports who want to use their NIL with NCCU marks. NCCU's revenue-sharing path is set out in its own trustees' records: opting in listed as a fundraising priority in September 2025, an evaluation of "potential opt-in considerations" in March 2026, a "Revenue Share – Opt-in" report in June 2026, and in September 2026 "$193,500 in revenue-sharing/NIL support" for football and men's basketball athletes, "funded through game guarantees and/or fundraising".
How Leave fits
In Leave, every deal thread carries a rules summary for the athlete's state and level, and keeps the contract, its dates and the disclosure deadline that applies. It is a summary, not a ruling; the school and the law decide. Leave is software, not an agent, and takes 0% of any deal. You decide, you send.
